The Garden of Forking Paths

The garden of Forking Paths serves as an awesome representation of the endless possibilities of outcomes in a particular situation. The story tells of a man who is a spy and needs to find a way to deliver an important message as to where the British army is located. Yu Tsun's epiphany that all things happen only in the present, the past present and future can only be affected by what we do in these very moments. The idea of "Forking Paths" stems from the vast range of infinite possibilities that occur in every situation. Each option or choice can be chosen and have a completely different outcome then the other. With endless amounts of paths to take from any situation, the future and past is made up simply as decisions. The story's main focus is set on time and how it is linear. He describes that humanity perception of time is based on moments in their lives where they made particular decisions that lead to ultimately more and more decisions. Our past is made up of what we remember and our future is made from the series of decisions that we make in the moment. Overall i found this reading to be somewhat confusing to find the deeper meaning upon first read. The more i read the easier i could pick out the theme of time involved. The research after the reading made everything a lot clearer on the authors intentions.Life is made by making decisions. Every decision can wear multiple masks and reveal many alternate situations, it is up to us to make the choices and decisions that make us who we are.
